Hotel Review: Amari Johor Bahru (One Bedroom Suite)
Oct 1, 2018

We went to Amari Johor Bahru for a short weekend gateway and received a room upgrade from Deluxe King to One Bedroom Suite!

This was my second stay with Amari Johor Bahru and we were really surprised by the massive room upgrade. We liked our experience with the entry-level suite and here’s our experience with the highest tier room in the hotel.

We booked our Deluxe King for approximately S$140 per night. Agoda shows that the One Bedroom Suite costs about S$270 per night. That’s almost double the value of the room that we have booked!

The front desk lady told us that the deluxe rooms were fully booked so we were given an upgrade to One Bedroom Suite. At this point, I seriously don’t care that whether the rooms are fully booked. Come on, it’s a suite!

Just in case you forgot about the location, Amari Johor Bahru is located directly opposite of Komtar JBCC. You can take the exit near Swavorski and cross the traffic light to reach the hotel. It’s the most convenient hotel around City Square as of today.

The hotel is located behind a shopping mall. Once you enter the mall, take the escalator to the second floor and exit the building near 7-11.

We arrived at the hotel lobby slightly before the check-in time at 3.00 pm. Our room was ready and we were given the key in a very short while.

One bedroom Suite

The One Bedroom Suite offers 69 sqm space, which is significantly larger than the entry-level suite we have stayed previously. Like other suites in the hotel, the room comes with complimentary WiFi, breakfast for two, whole-day refreshment and free evening cocktail at the executive lounge.

Seriously they have the best bed ever. I have even tried to search for the brand of the bed so that I can upgrade mine to the same one at home.

They have Smart TVs in both living room and bedroom. The remote controls are specially designed in such a way that you are unable to switch to HDMI or VGA (boohoo!). We couldn’t connect our Android tablet to the TV but yo ucan use Miracast to cast your videos from a Samsung phone to the TVs.

Most of the time we spent lazing on the sofa in the living room. We wonder why there are 3 side tables.

The room looks dull from my photo but it is well-lighted when the curtains are drawn up. We received a platter of fruits and a hand-written letter from the hotel’s manager as part of our welcome amenity.

If you are up for a good massage, you can visit Breeze Spa to relieve your body stress. The massage menu is available in every room and Mickey said that it’s one of the best massages she had ever visited.

There are double sinks in the suite’s bathroom. We like hotels with two sinks so that we don’t have to snatch over the water in the morning. Between the sinks are the bath amenities from the hotel. The hotel gave shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

As expected, the bathroom comes with both rain shower and bathtub. The bathroom itself is about 2x bigger than the bathroom of a deluxe room. I like the choice of wall tiles as it makes the room a lot brighter and bigger.

The bathtub is really deep for a 155cm. If you have a kid, that’s the best place to put him to play his rubber duck when he starts to make noise.

Amari Johor Bahru never fails to amaze me with their bed… well and also their great services. I really like the hotel because of their great hospitality.

If you are up for a luxury stay, I think S$270++ per night for a suite is definitely a good steal. In Singapore, you need to pay more than S$400 per night to book an entry-level suite!
